O’s Notes: Singing eleven standards and making them sound like her own is the challenge for Gloria Lynne. She has a blues and gospel background so passion and emotion are an inherent part of her repertoire. Lynn made many great albums in the early 1960’s and her voice has weathered the test of time very well. In fact her confidence and control on this recording make it arguably one of he best. Author Will Friedwald says Gloria is able to revitalize ordinary tunes making them even more enjoyable than the originals. We tend to agree!
