O’s Notes: Veteran alto sax player Bobby Watson takes us through fourteen fresh original compositions. Leron Thomas (t), Quincy Davis (d), Curtis Lundy (b) and Harold O’Neal (p) join him to form the Live & Learn Band. “Purple Flowers” is a beautiful ballad with Bobby and Leron combining tones. Watson explodes with fury on “Deep Pockets” on top of a syncopated rhythm anchored by Lundy who follows with a smooth solo on “Climbing the Stairs”. “For Milt” is a worthy dedication including Warren Wolf on vibes. Watson is again on target with From The Heart.
