O’s Notes: Canadian vocalist Johanna Sillanpaa has a cool, soulful sound spread across a jazzy canvas that spells magic on“From This Side. While she’s been on the scene for over a decade, this is our first exposure to the creative artist. She gets support from a strong team north of the border including bassist George Koller and pianist, composer and arranger Chris Andrew. They play eleven selections including seven originals (three with Andrew). This is a delightful performance that warrants repeated listening.
