O’s Notes: Mexican born bassist and composer Gabriel Espinosa impressed us with this album. He shares the stage with a wealth of good musicians including Claudio Roditi (t), Helio Alves (p), George Robert (sax), and Anat Cohen (cl). His program is mostly original songs along with a few covers. The title accurately describes the music with bossa nova and Caribbean sounds. They start with a harmonically rich arrangement of “Agua De Beber” featuring guest vocalists Darmon Meader and Kim Nazarian. Roditi does a fine job especially on the warm ballad “Morning Breeze”. Alison Wedding sings on two songs that she wrote as well as providing background vocals on a few others. There is strong harmony throughout as Espinosa shows his strength as an arranger harnessing the power a large band with many stars.
