O’s Notes: Turkish bassist and composer Oytun Ersan explodes onto the contemporary jazz scene with a strong lineup that includes Dave Weckl (d), Gary Husband (keys), Mike Miller (g), Eric Marienthal (sax) and Karen Briggs (violin). Oytun’s sophomore effort is packed with energy and it is strong. He thumps and plucks his bass with the best contemporary jazz bassists. They play six instrumentals and wrap with a rich choral vocal, “Sacred Solace”. This is a solid effort end to end.
