O’s Notes: Israeli drummer and composer Dor Herskovits now resides in Boston where he leads a quintet for“Flying Elephants, his latest release. Hery Paz (sax) Caio Afiune (g), Isaac Wilson (p) and Max Ridley (b) were heavily involved in the interpretation and translation of Herskovits’ work and the results come to life over ten varied selections. We enjoyed the tranquility of ‘Water‘, the warmth of ‘New fashioned‘ featuring Paz, and the bouncy free fusion of ‘Bangin’‘.
