O’s Notes: Israeli jazz pianist Tal Cohen now resides in New York where he assembles a fine band with Greg Osby (a sax), Jamie Oehlers (t sax), Robert Hurst (b) and Nate Winn (d). Nine of the ten selections are Cohen originals with the opener being a freshly shaped take on “Nardis”. The bottom is solid and Tal uses it as a trampoline to express himself on tunes like “Ducks”, one of our favorites along with the dual personalities of “Lo Haya: Part 1 & 2”.
