O’s Notes: Georgian composer and pianist Girogi Mikadzi now resides in New York. He was initially trained in classical music before adopting jazz. Georgian Microjamz is his latest release, an amalgamation of traditional Georgian folk music and improvisational jazz. The result is a combination of dark airy tones and jazz-fusion that speaks of a psychotic horror movie. It is an extremely creative work that truly pushes the envelope. We liked “Dumba Dumba”, “Elisa” featuring Ensemble Basianu and “Kartlos Blues”
