O’s Notes: The power of a gospel choir can be tremendous. Combined with a strong message, it becomes inspirational. This group of 35 voices from Canada has the right ingredients, especially the subgroup, Revelation III – Samantha Hinds, Janique Montreuil and Serena Voltaire. These sopranos can chirp with the best songbirds. Piano, bass, organ and drums are added to anchor the rhythms. You can hear and feel genuine praise to the Lord and be able to trace the lineage of gospel music to R&B, Soul and Hip-Hop music. Goin’ Up Yonder is a collection of the group’s best performances at Montreal’s St. James Church during December, 2001. “Changed”, “He Brought Us” and the title track are among the best of ten selections.
