O’s Notes: Chok (Hammond C3) leads a quartet with Lucas Pino (sax, fl), Michael Valeanu (g) and Jake Goldbas (d, perc). Matt Holman plays trumpet on two selections notably “Incessant”. Kerong wrote all of the music and it is fresh with a good feel that makes it easy to digest. “Literacy” has calypso undertones with a gentle swing along with the festive “Samba Number 1”. We also dug “Free and Easy”, “The First Day Of School” and “Rill Son”. Chok is on target and bringing it!
