LML Music, 2009, CD
Instrument: Female Vocals
Jazz Ruler Type: Ballads, Blues
O’s Notes: Tamela has a strong voice with nasal character backed with an incredible amount of energy. She performs in front of an excellent orchestra and commands the spotlight all the way through. The program is a set of ten pop and jazz standards arranged by conductor Chris Walden. D’Amico sounds like a voice from yesterday beamed into 2009 on classics like “Charade” and “They All Laughed”. We like it when she takes her time, teasing the strings on “One For My Baby” then swings on “We Are In Love” featuring a sax solo From Rob Lockhart. It is a solid performance.
