O’s Notes: Kelly and special guest Lee Konitz provide the entire sax in front of an exceptionally talented rhythm section featuring Russell Malone (g), Matt Wilson (d) and Rufus Reid (b). Grace also plays several duets. “Just Friends” with Malone worked well. “There Is No Greater Love” with Reid felt unusual at the start but developed into a decent piece. She does “Alone Together” and a short improv with Konitz for sax lovers and then “Call of the Spirits” with Wilson. Grace takes lots of chances on GracefulLee and some work well. We like the full ensemble best, especially “NY at Noon” and the swinging “Subconscious Lee”.
