O’s Notes: This project started as a duet with guitarists Jim Hall and Bill Frisell. During the song selection process they decided to expand the band to a quartet with bassist Jim Colley and Joey Baron on drums. The results are an excellent blend of swinging jazz-fusion. Disc 1 is the duo and disc 2 is the quartet. They play ten tunes on each disc, some new and some revitalized covers. We loved their takes on “Bags Groove”, “I’ll Remember April” and “In A Sentimental Mood”. We also highlight the beautiful “Beija Flor” and the cool interplay between all of the musicians on “Sonnymoon for Two”. The more we listened, the more we enjoyed it!
