O’s Notes: This is a rather dark relaxed fusion set with Brill Frisell (g), Joe Lovano (sax) and leader Paul Motian connecting to build on each others thoughts. Their interplay throughout the set is excellent. The selections are new compositions written by Paul except the title track and Monk’s “Dreamland”, the cool finale. They stretch the envelope a bit from time to time but remain in touch with listeners.
