O’s Notes: Israeli bassist and composer Adi Meyerson leads a strong band featuring Marquis Hill (t), Anne Drummond (fl), Lucas Pino (b-cl, sax), Sam Towse (keyboards), Kush Abadey (d), Eden Girma (spoken word), with vocalists Sabeth Perez and Camille Thurman. They perform mostly in small configurations that allow individual musicians to shine. I Want To Sing My Heart Out in Praise of Life was inspired by the work of legendary avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama. We found it to be inspiring and very accessible. They swing on “Follow The Red Dot”. We enjoyed Thurman’s scatting on “Caged Bird”, Hill’s work on “Infinity”, Abadey on “Kabocha”, and the spiritual title track featuring Thurman. It is a powerful statement indeed!
