O’s Notes: Chad plays sax, composed all of the music and leads a sextet with Adam O’Farrill (t), Travis Reuter (g), Sam Harris (p), Linda Oh (b) and Kenneth Salters (d). The syncopated beats are surrounded by the rich brass melodies of Lefkowitz-Brown and O’Farrill resulting in a fresh sound that is contemporary while maintaining solid jazz roots. “Manic Panic”, “Where The Wild Things Are”, “Eastern Flower” and “Still Here” are among the best in a hot set.
