O’s Notes: The Karuna Trio is Adam Rudolph (membranophones, idophones, chordophones, electronics, overtone vocals), Ralph M. Jones (aerophones, voice) and Hamid Drake (membranophones, idophones, voice). They are percussionists with enormous imaginations. They discovered an Imaginary Archipelago, eleven islands that include many geographical landscapes. Each of these landscapes can be found in Africa and that seems like an alternate source of inspiration. The trio is well integrated with many years of experience playing together reflecting in the seamlessness of the package. It’s a unique approach and worth investigation.
