O’s Notes: Impressions, Improvisations and Compositions is a series of original music recorded by French pianist Kari Ikonen at his home in Helsinki, August 2019. It is a solo recording with Ikonen extracting all music and sounds from his Steinway grand piano. He uses the Maqiano, a special self-made device for playing Arabic Maqamat and other micro intervals. The music is true to the title including some introspective free jazz, music inspired by external influences, and more traditional structured works. It is an appreciable and reflective work.
