O’s Notes: Jean has a well-established signature that is frequently imitated but never equaled. He brought the electric violin into the jazz fusion mainstream. This live session from Warsaw in 1999 captures Jean at his best in concert and sharing the stage with his band members. The cast is William Lecomte (keyboards), Guy Nsangue (b), Thierry Arpino (d) and Moustapha Cisse (percussion). Each of these guys makes their presence known but it’s definitely Jean’s date and it a good one. He played many of his classic tunes like “Pastoral Harmony” and “Enigmatic Ocean” but we found all of the 9 tracks engaging.
