O’s Notes: In The Still of the Night“is a collection of great Cole Porter tunes. Calabria does them justice with a warm, scintillating and romantic tone that brings the best out of Porter works. Eddie Daniels shines on clarinet for “What Is This Thing Called Love” and blending in with Foti on “Just One of Those Things”. Richard Locker (cello) does a fine job opening “I Concentrate on You” which also includes a great solo by trombonist Bob McChesney. There are also strong contributions from Michael Patterson (p), Gene Bertoncini (g) and Ike Strum (b) throughout the set giving Foti another winner.
