O’s Notes: Cathy breathes refreshing lyrics into new arrangements of classic tunes and one original on“The Jazz Chamber,“her eleventh recording as a leader. The large ensemble includes all of the chamber strings and helps music reflect the title. They bend things a bit from time to time with some unique arrangements notably our favorite, “Compared To What” and “Time After Time”. Segal-Garcia pushes the envelope here to expand her boundaries.
