O’s Notes: Mariah Parker is most commonly known as the pianist in the world-jazz band Ancient Future. But this is a solo effort leading her Indo Latin Jazz Ensemble. Paul McCandless (horns), Matthew Montfort (g) and Brian Rice (perc) are core members of the band. They perform eight Parker originals recorded live at several Bay Area jazz clubs. There’s an East African twist to this Latin groove courtesy of Parker’s work on santur and judicious use of percussion.
