O’s Notes: We are happily Introducing Katie Thiroux, an accomplished scholar, well-respected protégé, composer, bassist and singer. She leads a quartet with Roger Newmann on tenor sax, guitarist Graham Dechter and Matt Witek on drums. She’s not the first well educated, polished flame bassist to emerge but she has a unique style that will cement a place on the jazz scene for many years to come. The program has a good mix of laid back ballads, blues and bebop. Katie has an excellent sense of swing whether she’s at the mic or pulling the strings, sit back and enjoy the music.
