O’s Notes: The Verge is Jon Hanser (keys, voice, t), Kenny Shanker (sax, keys, voice), and Brian Fishler (d, perc, voice). They play a mix of old and new blending jazz with contemporary pop. It is the vocals like “I Wanna Go” that set this one apart along with the funky beats of “Joshua” and “3”. Bassist Richard Bona makes a guest appearance on “Above and Beyond”, one of several guest artists that join the introduction of The Verge to the smooth jazz scene.
