O’s Notes: Dan Bosanti orchestrates and arranges the music for the 14 Jazz Orchestra, a large ensemble with a large pool of talent. Dan co-produces Islands with pianist Mike Levine. Ed Calle (sax, fl, cl) is the featured artist with special guests Mike Mainieri (vibes), Mark Egan (b), Peter Erskine (d), Will Lee (b), David Liebman (s-sax), and Randy Bernstein (g) all making notable contributions. They open with “Man From Tanganyika” establishing an upbeat, festive vibe that carries through the entire session. Other highlights are “Carmencita”, “Loft Dance”, and “Jitterbug Waltz”.
