O’s Notes: When we first heard of this trio with drummer Lenny White, Japanese star pop/fusion pianist Hiromi and leader, bassist Stanley Clarke, we imagined another iteration of Return To Forever. But these guys have their own groove playing both fusion and bebop. The program is a mix of originals by Clarke and Hiromi with a few standards. They surface a tremendous amount of talent and make good music in the process. Clarke uses “Bass Folk Song #5 & 6” as a showcase. We liked the opener, “Paradigm Shift”, “Take The Coltrane” and “Three Wrong Notes” in a balanced set.
