O’s Notes: The lineup of this volume includes Joe Cool, Bob James, Lee Ritenour and Carmen McRae. The best of the action comes from Lee on “Rio Funk” and “Sunset Drivers”. He and Bob also combine on “Restoration”. Carmen’s presence on this session mellows out an otherwise contemporary jazz set. The video captures each musician feeling the groove in the heat of the moment.
