O’s Notes: This is Aretha singing jazz ballads, not soul/R&B. While we all enjoy the groove of the latter, this view captures all of the depth and beauty of her voice against the backdrop of a full orchestra. The results are captivating. The songs were all originally recorded during the decade of the 1960’s, most times on albums including her more popular soul hits. Jazz fans will appreciate it.
