O’s Notes: We were skeptical about the prospects of placing a harp into a jazz ensemble but Carol Robins quickly dissipated that fear. She plays her harp as if slowly strumming and picking the strings of a piano. She blends her harp very well with guitarist Larry Koonse, notably with the bossa nova of “O Grande Amor”. There is a sense of warmth and grace that is further accentuated by Bob Sheppard’s sax and the flugal horn of Steve Huffsteter. This is a very good jazz ballads album, WITH the harp!
