O’s Notes: Bandleader Dave LeMieux (sax, keys) assembles a strong unit called House of Soul playing a combination of contemporary jazz and neobop. The program is a blend of freshly arranged classics and several original pieces. They perform for an appreciative live audience at the Soiled Dove. Michelle Pulley sings “The Creator Has A Master Plan” the first of several vocal tracks, an inspirational piece. “Tres Perguntas” has a funky beat courtesy of Steve Holley (d) and Terell Martin (d) underscoring the spoken word of Ayinde Russell. We also liked “Giant Steps”, “‘My Funny Valentine” featuring Julie McCluskey and “Finding the Groove” in a cool set.
