O’s Notes: Herbie is legendary in the world of both traditional and contemporary jazz. He returned to the jazz scene recently with an updated edition of his famous Headhunters Band. But this set reaches back to some lesser-known works from 1966 and 1969 sessions. He touches both sides of jazz here and plays with some of best jazz musicians as well. It is an interesting view of Herbie with some unique moments. The first half of CD 2 has the best stuff.
