O’s Notes: They were one of the 1st all-star contemporary jazz ensembles. The four are Nathan East (vocals, b), Bob James (p), Larry Carlton (g) and Harvey Mason (d). The formula has remained true: a set of jazzy instrumentals with at least one radio friendly track, “Fields Of Gold” and the standard vocal track, “Journey”. There are a couple of cool tracks: “Avalabop” and “Cool Train”, the relaxed Latin “Rozil” and the funky “Play Around It”. It is up to their usual standards.
