O’s Notes: Andrea has warm, passionate vocal tones that are supported by contemporary jazz rhythms from her band. The program is mostly original tunes with several fresh arrangements of classics notably “You And I” and “Nature Boy” featuring guest artist Donny McCaslin (ts). The music is powerful with generous amounts of funky, syncopated beats and spacey interludes that make this Kaleidoscope click. Angelo Di Loreto’s use of the Fender Rhodes imparts a retro feel to “Take A Chance”. We also enjoyed “Call Me Maybe” and Wood’s vocalese on “The Little Things”, one of several gems that make the recording sparkle.
