O’s Notes: Alison has a soft warm voice that flows gently. We liked the swing of “Love Me Or Leave Me” with Guy Barker shadowing on muted trumpet. There’s also strong support from guitarist/producer Martin Taylor, David Newton (p) and Jack Emblow (accordion). There are thirteen standards including “Cry Me A River”, “The Shadow Of Your Smile” and “You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To”. While these are common tunes they don’t feel overworked here at all. The combination of Burns’ pleasing voice with strong musicians and good arrangements leads to a satisfying set!
