O’s Notes: Iro Haarla is a pianist, composer, arranger and leader of the Finnish/Norwegian sextet performing on Kolibri. These are fine musicians who improvise freely all the way through. The tone is blue and relaxed with injections of energy provided by the horns and drummer Markku Ounaskari. Audio quality is excellent. The resulting session is eclectic, open and will excite fans of this genre.
