O’s Notes: Daggerboard is a band featuring many of the musicians of Throttle Elevator Music, notably composers Erik Jekabson (t) and Gregory Howe (B3, synthesizers). The session was one of the last to be recorded at Fantasy Studio’s legendary Studio A before its demolition. Highlights are “Journey Down Parker”, ballads like “Chordelia”, and the mysterious “Heroine’s Portrait”. The Beauty of this recording is the variety of melodic approaches presented by several different musicians whether it’s Kasey Knudsen’s sax, Jekabson’s trumpet, Howe’s piano and percussion, or Roger Glenn on vibes, this one is pretty good.
