O’s Notes: It is hard to argue with a solid collection of classics like “Ain’t No Sunshine”, “Bittersweet” and “Makin’ Whoopee” freshened with a couple of originals by Locke. Mostly old hat but freshened up enough to warm the palate. Joe is a formidable vibraphonist leading a quartet with Bassist David Finck, pianist Ryan Cohan and Jameo Brown on drums. This is a set of blues and ballads for the workingman, stuff we can wind down to after a long day. Lay Down My Heart is rejuvenating.
