O’s Notes: These two legends play an instrumental attribute to Billie Holiday. The songs are all are duets, featuring Waldron on piano and spoken word with Shepp playing saxophones and singing. In their many years of combined experience, they’ve accumulated a lot of feeling in their playing. It comes out here, like the emotions Billie sang. Archie’s gutsy vocals on “Blues For 52nd Street” get right to the point of blues!
