O’s Notes: Drummer Colin Stranahan leads a quartet with Chris Smith (b), Ben Van Gilder (as) and Jake Saslow (ts). We didn’t moss the piano as the brass provided ample harmony. They play eight selections, a mix of covers and originals. They take creative liberties throughout the set on solos and even with the melodies tilting this Ito Avant Garde territory. Life Condition is thus a true reflection of the inner feelings of the quartet.
