O’s Notes: Sun Ra was an experimental, jazz keyboardist who led a large ensemble, his Arkestra, performing edgy, heavily improvised, jazz-fusion. Lights On A Satellite captures a lengthy, live performance at The Famous Ballroom in Baltimore on July 23, 1978. There’s a lot here that excited his fan base, tapping into interplanetary energy. The liner notes are extensive and include photos. Sadly, I read them squinting through a magnifying glass. The listening experience is a redeeming factor!
