O’s Notes: Composer and saxophonist Adam Larson had a well-decorated career as amateur followed by Bachelors and Masters degrees with honors in Jazz Performance from The Manhattan School. Listen With Your Eyes is his fifth album as a leader and it is a winner. Adam plays here with his working band, a quartet featuring Fabian Almazan (keyboards), Matt Clohesy (b) and Jimmy MacBride (d). This is a fine combination of new jazz-fusion that swings, with elements of funk as on “False Pageantry” and ballads like the title track. It serves a true lens into Larson and his music. We like what we see.
