O’s Notes: This is a live recording of Brazilian vocalist Mari Nobre captured at UCLA May 27, 2016. It was a therapeutic elixir of sorts that helped Nobre fight off a bout with cancer. She sings in front of a quintet that includes Justo Almario (sax, fl) and Daniel Szabo (p). They play both Brazilian bossa nova and a few American classics all loaded with passion to the satisfaction of their audience. Highlights are “Fascinating Rhythm”, “Linda” and “Chega de Saudade”.
