O’s Notes: This 1961 session features McRae live at London’s Flamingo Jazz Club. It was her first live appearance outside of the USA and is a good snapshot of her early years. The program includes eleven classic American tunes. Among the best are “Body And Soul”, “Moonlight In Vermont” and “Round About Midnight”. These selections highlight the gentle textures of her voice and her wide range, characteristics that helped her shine for over five decades!
