O’s Notes: Dave is performing Live at the Monterey Jazz Festival. The compilation spans performances over 50 years from 1958 to 2007. Yes Dave is as venerable as the legendary concert itself! There is a lot to enjoy here but we make note of “Two Part Contention” with Paul Desmond playing alto sax, and his signature piece “Take Five”. Both were performed at the first MJF in 1958. We also liked “Tritonis” featuring Bobby Minetello on flute.
