O’s Notes: The Touch and Go Sextet is Ben Goldberg (cl), Aaron Bennett (sax), Sheldon Brown (sax, cl), Lisa Mezzacappa (b), Darren Johnston (t) and leader Vijay Anderson (d). They originated in 2008 as a San Francisco based band that played and interpreted the music of visiting musicians. They have since evolved to the current unit playing modern free jazz. This session was recorded Live at the Novara Jazz Festival. There are six compositions comprising well over 66 minutes and exploring music on the edgy with no boundaries. Our favorites are “Swift Horse” and “The Last Good Kiss” medley tipping the edge favorably for the set.
