O’s Notes: James Emery marries the sound of his guitar with reeds form Marty Ehrlich and Chris Speed, the marimba and vibes of Kevin Norton. Drew Gress (b) and Gerry Hemingway (d) handle the lower registers. This is highly syncopated, open and free spirited music with lots of catchy riffs. It’s a cool fresh take, welcomed in the world of continuously redundant covers of standards.
