O’s Notes: Hats off to Delfeayo for having the courage to address real issues with candor backed by solid, true life from of America. Make America Great Again is his take on the latest political phrase that means different things to different people! Regardless of the spoken words, the musical program is first class swinging jazz that we’ve come to expect from Delfeayo. He assembles a large ensemble with some of New Orleans finest musicians including bassist David Pulphus and a plethora of talented horn players. Special guests are Dee-1 (rap), Cynthia Liggins Thomas (vocals), Wendell Pierce (Narration) and Branford Marsalis (tenor sax). Delfeayo shines on “Skylark” where he coaxes warm melodies out of his trombone as we reflect on the messages from the preceding songs. We enjoyed the music, the message and the entertainment!
