O’s Notes: Joanne opens with “Moments Like This” a swinger with rich lyrics that mate well with her voice. A large ensemble that includes a strong 6-piece horn section backs her. The program includes some favorites that will find a warm spot with everyone. She makes “I’m Old Fashioned” pop. We found ourselves humming along in admiration on “You’ve Changed”. “Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most” gave Joanne a chance to spread her wings displaying her wide range and attention to detail on the delicate passages. She closes with Jobim’s “Wave”, a fitting cool tune accented by Mark Hollingsworth (flute) capping an enjoyable set.
