O’s Notes: MaliCool is the result of Rudd’s fascination with the music of Mali. He toured Mali in 1999, met Toumani Diabate and they performed together there in February 2000. This recording came after that successful engagement. Roswell blends his trumpet with the Malian musicians for what turns out to be somewhat festive World Jazz.
