O’s Notes: Pianist Chris Ziemba makes his debut as a leader on Manhattan Lullaby. Hans Glawischnig plays bass with drummer Jimmy MacBride and Michael Thomas on sax & bass clarinet. Ziemba composed seven of the eight selections. The mood is more of Central Park on a blustery fall day than bustling mid-town with the exception of the opener “Josie”! Chris swings on “Escher’s Loop” showing a penchant for modern jazz that suggests he’ll be making good music for quite some time.
